Wireless Home Theater Systems

Trying to keep up with all of the wires associated with a typical home theater system can be extremely annoying. This is why wireless home theater systems have been developed. These work through transmitters that use either infrared, radio or Bluetooth technology to communicate with the speakers. This section will discuss some of the most popular brands offering wireless home theater systems.

If you are new to home theater systems, it is recommended you get Pioneer’s HTP-4600. This wireless home theater system is color-coded to make setup even easier. In terms of appearance, expect to get a pair of tall yet slender left and right speakers. Also expect to get all of your equipment in a sleek silver and black color combination. The price of the beauty and convenience of the HTP-4600 is only $431.27.

Next there is Samsung’s HT-DB390 wireless home theater system. This system has a 5.1 channel system along with a 100 watt subwoofer. The player portion of the system can play DVDs and MP3s, along with WMA and JPEG formats. The color scheme of the equipment is mostly silver. And as far as size, the speakers are significantly smaller, making them look more like bookshelf speakers. Price-wise expect to pay $328.19.

Finally, there is Sony’s DAV DZ750K/DZ770 home theater system. It looks similar to Pioneer’s HTP-4600 since the left and right speakers are also tall and ‘tower-like.’ Both systems also have the same silver and black color scheme. Yet, there are some obvious design differences, which you can see if you type the terms ‘Pioneer HTP-4600′ or ‘Sony’s DAV DZ750K/DZ770′ into Froogle.com. For price, the Sony DAV is the most expensive of the systems discussed here, as it costs $679.99.

So, with what is available among wireless home theater systems, why would one even consider still buying wired equipment? Well, wireless home theater technology is relatively new, making it somewhat limited. If you use Froogle.com or other shopping comparison sites to locate the equipment discussed in this section, you might be disappointed that some of them are out of stock. Yet, even if you are able to get your hands on one, the sound quality will not be as good as home theater systems that are wired. Ultimately, to obtain the convenience of the wireless factor, you’re sacrificing the audio element of your home theater experience. For many people this doesn’t matter as much because to them not having to deal with wires makes it all worth it. If you are one of these people, print out this section along with the discussion of wireless ‘in-a-box’ home theater systems in Chapter 9 and keep the printout as an aide when you are ready to purchase. Otherwise, continue reading to discover the best way to buy and set up wired home theater systems.
